Thank You

FYI, this entire journal was written on a keyboard with a popped-off non-working backspace key. This took over an hour. Yes, an hour.

First off I want to thank everyone participating, including those who wanted to. This has been awesome. :)

As some of you know, the idea for this contest came from an unfinished drawing an long since ex-friend was going to draw years ago. This creature was in a nightmare she once had, and she had told me about it. I have nothing more to do with this ex-friend, and the monster was never drawn beyond two very crude sketches. But for years I have remembered her dream and loved how this freakish nightmarish monster she dreamed up.

And that's how this contest came to be. I decided, my art skills aren't that great, but this monster needed to be drawn and shown to the world.

Of course, it wouldn't be fair to say exactly what to draw, but since I wanted a way to get something along the lines of what the monster is, I'd have to give some details. So I gave you all the three body parts that it had, but left the rest of the body to you. That way, as you can tell by the entries, the resulting creatures have a wide variety of features. :) So personally I was hoping that perhaps one of the creatures might be close to what was described to me.

...one of the entries nailed it. Pretty much perfectly. :fear: But which entry matches it, who can say? ;)

*Ahem.* But enough about me. :bucktooth: It is time to reveal the results of the voting! :w00t:

Feature Information

This journal is already quite long, and not only do I have the Lakeshore Contest winners to do journal features for, but I must also complete an old journal feature. I will do both here, but since this is a long journal already, some features might not get noticed as easily, so in a day or two after posting this journal, I'll repost the journal features in separate journal entries so that they can all be better seen.

In other words everyone's going to basically have a journal feature posted twice. :bucktooth:

Eleven ThirtyI talked to you today
Words of what I want from you
Tell me not our friendship matters
I have tears in my eyes tonight
Over being nothing more
I'll work on believing that we'll never be
That you don't love me that way
We've been us so long
And our selves still
Always just friends again
Here is where we are supposed to be
Damn those turns I didn't take
Remember when I was pregnant with her
And you weren't the father
We both wanted you to be
The list of Remember When's
Lasts for eighteen years
How old were we in grade school
How young and knew it not
Why did I ever touch you
Memories just feed the psychosis
I hate you for not wanting me
It's dark and late and almost tomorrow
Nothing has changed

Profile Q and AName: Tali ('tis real but otherwise spelled)
Age: 31
Gender: Female
Who are you? I am a single mother of three.
How did you come to start writing? I have always been writing.  I write pieces in my head for hours, days, or in some cases months, before I type them.  I have a notebook from grade school with the originals handwritten in faded pencil.
Why do you still write?  Some of the darkest points in my life were when I could not write.  I had polluted my body to such an extent my muse deserted me.  I was empty and without words.  I do not ever want to visit that life again.
What inspires you to write?  My main inspiration is my turbulent emotions fueled by my reactions to the world outside my head.
How far have you come since you first started?  I used to be stuck in the "love from above" rut, which is all well and good if it's genuine which mine most assuredly was not.  I wr

Behind the Screen
I welcomed him to the pleasures I had to offer. We had explored a myriad of ways to bring the other and ourselves to ecstasy. Whenever my husband gazed at me with desire in his golden eyes, I responded. Most of our activities were confined to the private space of our apartments, but there were a few times where Zuko was in a more... adventurous mood. I smiled to myself as I remembered the frolics in my private garden, where once my ruby-peacocks had stared with curiosity as we made love next to the pond.
I casually surveyed my room. A few days ago, I had asked the Palace craftsmen to create a folding screen for me. I specified that they should use the thinnest silk possible, and the result sat before me. The white silk was so thin as to be gauzy, and I smiled to myself. Perfect. The screen was finely crafted, with the wooden frames painted in black lacquer and ornately carved along the corners in a pattern pleasing to the eye, standing out sharply against the whiteness of the cloth.
